Mt Blue High School

Robotics

The Blue Crew Robotics team was started in 2015 by a group of students from Mt. Blue High School. The team operates under the auspices of For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology (FIRST), and builds 120 lb robots to compete in a game that is revealed on the first Saturday of January.

The team won accolades from its inception as it won the first competition it competed at and was awarded the Rookie All-Star team at that event. The team went on to place 17th in New England and qualified for the World Championship in St. Louis where they finished in the top third.

Subsequent years have added the Entrepreneurship Award, the Judges Award, and the prized Industrial Design Award to Blue Crew's trophy case. The Blue Crew has consistently demonstrated itself as one of the top teams in the state of Maine.

The Blue Crew mascot, R2-Blue2, is a fully functional, 3D-printed droid. It is the first 3D printed droid in Maine as well as the first 3D printed droid in FIRST Robotics. R2 has attended events in almost every state in New England and is a constant crowd favorite.
