Destination Imagination

Destination Imagination (DI) is an educational non-profit that teaches the creative process to students in 48 states and over 30 countries. School teams of up to 7 students, select and complete one of six challenges that were developed specifically for the program by professionals and focus on: technical, scientific, fine arts, improvisational, structural, and service related careers. While working on these challenges, students improve in creative thinking, critical thinking, and collaborative problem solving skills. Joining Destination Imagination is a fun and exciting way for students to prepare for jobs of the future!

The teams practice their selected challenge throughout the year and then compete at the Maine competition. The competition consists of two parts - the Central Challenge, where the team presents their solution to their chosen challenge in a skit; and, the Instant Challenge, where the team is assigned a new challenge and allowed limited time to prepare and present their solution. Teams who win at the state level are invited to compete at the Global Finals.

The Mt. Blue High School DI team has won two out of the last three years at state competition!
